So for everybody who's coming to our Toronto full-band debut this Friday at The Hard Rock Café, we are hitting the stage at 11:45pm. First band hits the stage at 9pm, and they are all awesome so just hang with us the whole night, cuz it's gonna be a great party with 6 great Toronto up-and-coming bands.

This past week, we've been working hard with the band rehearsing for the show, and we've also been working out harmonies for the upcoming record with producer Vic Branco at Iguana Recording.

So things are shaping up for a great spring/summer. Hope to see you Friday. Get your tickets on our 'concert tickets' page of this site.

Love,

Stephan & Eric

Adventures in Recording!

You might have noticed that we haven't been playing live much this summer (other than Eric's Epic BBQ Patio Sessions). This is because we've been working on writing a new record. This process, as expected, is taking a lot longer than we thought, but it's all for the best, because we keep coming up with new songs and ideas. We're in the process of continuing to trick-out our home-studio setup for more pre-production and demo recording while we sort out annoying business stuff (barf). We are getting real anxious to play some shows soon, so we might be announcing something along those lines, we'll see. Let us know if you want us to come to your place and play, or if you need to be serenaded... you could use the tunes, and we could use the karma. Peace.

Hey y'all! Hope your Canada Day plans are coming along great! Even if you're not in Canada remember that you should celebrate Canada Day anyways, cuz we're rad! We'd like to thank everybody who came out to our showcase at Toronto's famous Drake Hotel on Friday night, we had a blast, and even thought our set was at 9:30pm, we stayed 'ti last call, cuz that's how we roll. Saturday we were in Brantford at Charlie's Bar which is one of our favourite places to play, cuz we play all night and party hard every time and Saturday was no exception, thanks to Dee, Jenn and Joyce for being such great hosts! Monday night was the first time we played at The Cloak and Dagger Pub in Toronto, and we had a real great time (once we figured out the mixing board... we're not great with buttons).... Savannah was an awesome bartender and thanks to everyone who came out to support, we played from 9:30 until 12:30 and stayed 'til the bitter end, pretty darn good for Monday.

Now back to preproduction for our new record! We're going to be recording at Iguana Studios with producer Vic Branco and adding some super-exciting surprise guests in July and August. Keep posted for updates and multi-media docu-radness!

Have a great Canada Day, the world!

Well, it's a snowy, slushy winter and everybody with any sense is flying south to beaches, margaritas and bikinis. Not The Clearing. To celebrate February, us Toronto-boys be flying to Bathurst, New Brunswick for lobster, ski-doos and Alpine Lager. Bathurst is Eric's hometown and his homecoming should be a mega-celebration, east-coast style. The Clearing will be performing at Place 2B (2050 Saint Peter Avenue) on Saturday, Feb 26. It will be a fun night with tons of classic covers and of course, plenty of original tunes too. Hope to see you there.

FIrst off, thanks to everybody's love and radness throughout 2010, which was for sure the best year yet for The Clearing. We released our debut EP, "Comfort In A Sound" and played a butt-load of shows around central and southern Ontario. So, what does 2011 hold in store for us? Well we have some new songs that we'll be recording over the next two months and we will be releasing them digitally for all y'all. Also we were lucky enough to score an awesome photo shoot with the amazingly talented Toronto photographer, Jonathan Yapp. He made us look real good with our new haircuts. So expect to see some new pics here and there and everywhere. Tomorrow (Friday) we're being featured on the international awesome video-blog, BalconyTV Toronto, playing "Another Singer" in the freezing effing cold. Honestly, we we're dying of freezisation playing on the King Street patio of The Underground. Fortunately for viewers everywhere, we are willing to suffer a little for our craft (also, we got free beer). We are definitely planning on return trips to our regular haunts, but also we are looking forward to infecting some new markets with our sticky sweetness. So keep an ear out for for us and we'll do the same for you. Keep fit and have fun! Stephan and Eric. xoxo

Helloooo Rocktober

First off, we'd like to thank everybody who's been checking out our music this last month. Our stats are way up, and we have you to thank for that! Highlights this last month were definitely playing all night at one of our favourite Toronto bars, The Local, where we got to play originals all night to a great crowd from our own neighborhood in the Roncesvalles/High Park part of town. All the construction didn't hold anybody back from coming out to hang and party with us. We also had a chance to play in Kitchener for the first time at One Eyed Jack's for the first annual KOI Music Festival, we made some new friends there and got to see a lot of great bands too (like our friends in Youthinasia, A Primitive Evolution and Die Mannequin). Earlier in the month we played a really fun show at Mitizi's Sister in Toronto's west end with a promising new band called Hayley Stark, who we hope to play with again really soon. Also earlier in the month we were lucky enough to play two nights back to back in Ottawa at D'Arcy McGee's. Those shows were a blast, and our tour of the Parliament was very inspirational.

October is looking like it's going to equally as rad. We're headed back down to play for our friends in Sarnia at Paddy Flaherty's on the 14th and then we're going to play our first show in Windsor at The Whiskey on the 15th. If you're in southern Ontario or the Detroit area, you should come and party with us. Both shows we'll be playing a good deal of originals and tons of our favourite cover songs. Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all, and have a safe Halloween! See you soon.

So far we've been having a blast. We spent last weekend in London, ON at EMac Studios recording some songs for our upcoming release. We'll post more on that in the next day or two, because we have lots of footage to share there. Then we played in Ottawa on Thursday night at D'Arcy McGee's and had a grand ol' time. Footage will be posted for that too, just wanted to touch base and say hi. Enjoy the weekend!

Well, we just got back from playing Sarnia, Brantford and Mississauga, and we had a blast. Paddy Flaherty's in Sarnia is right on the waterfront with giant ships docked right outside, inside the pub is a perfect Irish-themed venue and we fit right in. The next night, we played at Brantford's newest bar, Charlie's, and it was insane! Apparently everybody in the city goes there on a Friday night and parties like rockstars (or maybe they were just trying to keep up). In Mississauga/Streetsville, we played at The Franklin House (second time playing there) and had a nice chill night, playing our favourite songs to a full pub. We can't wait to go back to these awesome spots and revisit our new friends!

Hello world,

Thank you for swinging by our brand-new website. 2010 stand to be the most productive and exciting year for us yet, and we're going to be keeping you in the loop every step of the way. We're going to be headed into the studio in a couple weeks to record our first studio-album with producer, Matt Grady at eMac Studios in London, ON. In the meantime, we have our live-recorded tracks available for a listen on our MySpace site, and we've posted "Seconds At A Time" here on theclearingmusic.com . We also are in the process of building up our video library on YouTube, and will be posting some of those videos here too. We have to give some serious credit to photographer-extraordinaire, Scott Lennon and his awesome dog Reilly for all the righteous photos, without which, this site would lack luster. We have some shows coming up in the next few weeks also, where in addition to our original material, we will be covering tons of our favorite classic songs, sort of like DJs with guitars, so watch out, Sarnia, London, Streetsville, Ottawa and Toronto, 'cause we're coming to you first.

So keep checking back as we update and improve the site, and please do not hesitate to tell us more of what you would like to see and hear. Have a nice week.
